ISLT 9417 - technology action research
Course Description: Study of concepts associated with action research; and the processes and procedures for conducting action research. Culminating project is the development of an action research project. Prerequisite: 12 credit hours completed prior to enrolling.
Reflection: I really thought this was going to be the hardest class in the program, mostly because of the work that is normally involved in doing research for a class. This class showed me, however, how easy it is to include action research in our daily teaching. One important thing I learned from writing my action research plan was that it takes a great deal of thought and research to prove or disprove if something is working in your classroom. Research was a major portion of my work and it took a great deal of time. The information I gained from my research allowed me to become a better teacher. Throughout my teaching career, I have heard the phrase "research based" teaching, however, I had no idea as to what that truly meant. After completing my action research plan, I can now recognize all the work that goes into making a true researched decision. I can recognize how preconceived notions may impact my own research as well as how there may be lack of information. I really feel I gained a great deal of knowledge through my research, planning, and now implementation of my plan.
