ISLT 7373 - Exploring Moodle
Course Description: Provides online environment for students to investigate and manipulate components of a Learning Management System (LMS). Prepare students to work within LMS to set up and manage an online course.
Reflection: Before entering this class, I had been curious to learn more about teaching online courses. Aside from having a multitude of learning experience online, I have only taught two online classes for our local community college over the past three years. These classes are used to train our local teachers on how to set up and maintain their class websites. I use Blackboard as my instructional management system. This class fueled my interest in learning more about online teaching and possibly applying to another college in the future to teach online part-time. I would also like to get into developing online curricula. My prior experience with Moodle was not as an educator but it as a collaborative instrument for those that teach the same curricula. We use the Moodle to retrieve our curricula and share ideas and resources to enhance student learning and increase student engagement. One thing that I gained from this course is the variety of tools available for teachers to utilize. I really liked being able to not only participate in this course, but to also develop my own pseudo course with Moodle.
