ISLT 7360 - INTRODUCTION TO Web Development
Course Description: If you've never created a website from scratch, Intro to Web Development is for you. The course will help you learn basic web page design and authoring skills, along with browser/server interaction, directory management, and other technical skills. You will also learn to evaluate your website's impact on communication, understanding, and accessibility.
Reflection: While I had a little bit of exposure to xhtml, this class taught me how to really hand-code xhtml. At times it felt tedious but the intricate process led me to the building of various websites. These can be witnessed on the artifact link below. This class made me appreciate all of the people who have had to create websites from scratch using only something like notepad. The information I gained from this class helped me feel better about the technological problems that I experience from time to time while using other sources like Dreamweaver to assist me in building websites. I have also been able to expand other sources I use for websites such as one of my school websites, hosted by School-In-Sites. This is a hosted website that my district provides for every educator free-of-charge. It has the capability to broaden its basic capabilities by allowing for html coding. Another example is weebly, the main website builder I use for my everyday teaching website, MrsCobb.org.
